How to remove the Confickr
Downup Virus
To remove the Conflicker, Confickr, Downup, Downadup, Kido virus
- Download one of the anti-Confickr
virus tools TO AN UNIFECTED PC.
- Have it emailed to your infected PC.
- Once you downloaded it, rename the file before running it.
- This is crucial since the Confickr virus will identify all
anti-virus efforts to detect itself by disabling all running programs with "Confickr"
in it.
- Just RENAME IT to something else, like "Conficker" or "Confik" to fool
the virus. The virus is dumb.
- Run the tools and purge the thing!
The tool was developed by the Conficker Working Group, they are fighting the
virus.
They seem to be doing well in the war against cybercrime.

Clean Up:
- Download
Malwarebytes Anti Malware software
- Rename it when the 'save' dialog box shows up.
- DO NOT SAVE as the original file name
mbam-setup.exe on the infected machine
- The virus will delete or disable the tool.
- Reboot the computer into Safe Mode -- do not choose with
networking -- it is Safe Mode with NO Networking.
- After the opening boot screen shows up (and Bios) press F8 a couple of
times during re-boot.
- Install and run a full scan with
Malwarebytes’
Anti Malware
- It takes a while to run, once it is done remove all infected files and
reboot the machine.
- Then Reboot again into safe mode and rerun this processes again.
- Continue until it comes back clean.
Then just reboot into regular mode.
